We use only the finest hand selected natural fibres , industrially spun, knitted, or woven into our high quality products, to deliver a timeless, luxurious, super soft touch you'll want to wear every day.
Our Journey to now
This began when our founder John, went out to Arequipa, Peru in 1987, to manage the operations side of a recently started knitwear factory, which was a new subsidiary of a large textile group, dedicated to the buying, sorting, industrial spinning and weaving of the various Alpaca fibre qualities.
- Using his Scottish knitwear know-how, he quickly reorganised the manufacturing, imported very modern high-tech flat knitting machines to minimise waste in knitting, and orientated the products and marketing, so that the products were suitable for the high end sector of the world's retail markets.
- The company grew exponentially during his 10 year tenure there, rising from 60 to about 1800 employees, exporting principally to high end and well known brand names, in the US, German, French and Italian knitwear markets.
Knitting and Making Up of Sweaters
- In 1990, he married Tirsa, a Peruvian, and soon after came two sons. For educational reasons, in 1997, the family moved to Lima, the capital of Peru. Here he launched 4 more successful start up knitwear factories, for Peruvian investors.
- In 2006, he returned to Scotland, to ensure that his two sons could finish their further higher education in Scotland. Both are now Honours Graduate Engineers with successful careers in front of them.
- John returns to Peru, every year, and during his visits, has reunions with his many work friends built up over his years there. Some have gone on to be owners of their own factories, and have often asked him to help with developing export markets for their knitwear.
- Prior to his last visit from May to August 2025, a market investigation was carried out, which concluded that their products were suitable to be marketed in the the UK, and Europe. Suitable knitwear suppliers, products and prices were confirmed during this visit.
Hence Ti-paca Sweater Co Ltd was formed to import, distribute and market this 100% Baby Alpaca Knitwear, Scarves and Shawls in the UK and Europe.
